The Highly Anticipated WasagaDome Announces its Grand Opening

Wasaga Beach, Ontario – Visitors to Wasaga Beach will be able to take in more than just the sun and sand this summer, when WasagaDome opens on Thursday, July 31, 2008. The grand opening ceremony will offer a preview of the shows that are coming this summer.

"The 31st at 8 p.m., that's our chance to really show the community this is what we are doing and we want them to be a part of that," says Elias Chornenki, WasagaDome's creative director.

Events this year include performances by The Second City Canadian Touring Company, stand-up comics from Absolute Comedy, screenings of blockbuster films, and a five-week run of Ignite - the latest production by Zero Gravity Circus.

At the grand opening, promoters hope to fill the dome's 750 seats with invitees from the local business community and other municipal officials for a sneak preview of Ignite, a human-powered circus performance that will run throughout August. Some members of the public will also have a chance to catch the show, as 200 tickets will be available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.

WasagaDome is a tenant of the Blue Beach Avenue Corporation who are dedicated to enhancing the Wasaga Beach strip which sweeps alongside the longest freshwater beach in the world.
